happy end

The flight was beautiful…. quit quiet … world-class landing … good on ya mate…. I’m a little bit disappointed because the American customs wouldn’t fingerprints of all fingers … only four fingers plus my gorgeous webcam picture…and the guys are happy ….  doesn’t matter instead of this the New Zealand security service confiscated my blue flame lighter and my sun lotion …. unbelievable I’m on the way at home …

Ok … today is D-Day  … I’m on the way to the bloody airport to catch my bloody flight ….back to Europe…. the flight goes in the late evening… first to Los Angeles … I’m looking forward to give the lovely American customs a bloody handsome Rübezahl webcam picture of me and bloody ten fingerprints…… again (to make sure the guys are happy)… than we will carry on to London Heathrow … finally I will catch a bloody plane to Dresden…. sweet as Kiwi’s and see you later New Zealand

Sooo der Countdown läuft … noch 7 Tage bis zum Start des Rugby Worldcup 2011 in Neuseeland und natürlich auch bis zu meinen Rückflug… die City ist voller Aufregung überall wird dekoriert und alles Fit gemacht für dieses Ereignis des Jahres. Die letzten Tage verbringe ich in Devonport … bin ja hier schon so gut wie zu Hause … helfe wieder bisschen im Haus und im Garten … bin völlig zufrieden und freue mich sehr auf Europa ….

The final countdown

Yes the countdown is running … only 7 days left to the start of the Rugby Worldcup 2011 in New Zealand and of course for my flight at home as well…. the whole city is excited for the Worldcup everybody is sorting his stuff for this event of the year. I’ll spent the last days in Devonport to help with the maintenance and gardening…. It feels like I’m at home here so I’m really satisfied and looking forward to travel to Europe….

Alle Tage hatte ich Glück mit dem Wetter bin von Thames nach Coromandel Town gefahren und habe hier die Gegend erkundet unter anderem bin ich auch mit der Driving Greek Railway gefahren dieser Minizug windet sich 3 Kilometer in die Berge hinauf bis zu einem Aussichtspunkt und war früher als Transportmittel für die Töpferei hier gedacht um den guten Ton aus den Bergen zu holen … nachdem aber die Töpferei in den 70ern zuviel Schulden hatte begann man Touristen zu transportieren und weil das so gut funktionierte baute man die Strecke immer weiter aus ….heute ist das ein richtiges Business mit vielen Angestellten … das meiste der Einnahmen fließt in lokale Naturschutzmassnahmen. Am zweiten Tag habe ich den Norden der Coromandel Peninsula erkundet bin bis Port Jackson gefahren und einen Teil des Coromandel Coastal Walkway gelaufen … die Strasse ist nicht asphaltiert und verläuft immer der Küste entlang tolle Aussichten inklusive Nervenkitzel denn Leitplanken gibts keine … am 3. Tag meiner Exkursion bin ich von Coromandel Town an die Ostküste gefahren ich war in Opito und Whitianga und bin nachmittags in Hahei angekommen und habe die Cathedral Cove angeschaut wunderbare Strände hier morgen will ich an den Hot Water Beach und mir meinen eigenen Hot Pot graben. Nach meinem SPA Erlebnis am Strand bin ich dann weiter an der Westküste südlich gefahren mit jeder Menge verlassenen Traumstränden, einem Ex-Vulkan tollen Wanderungen und oft keine Menschenseele unterwegs. Nun Morgen gehts zurück nach Auckland.

The bloody translation ….

All days I’m lucky because the weather was mainly fine. I drove from Thames to Coromandel Town to explore the scenery around the town. I also went to the Driving Creek Railway and used to be a passenger of these little train. The train goes 3 km up to the top of an hill with a lookout-building wich is called eyefull tower in memory of the tower in Paris. In the old days, this train was used to be to transport the best quality clay from the mountains to the pottery. In the 70′s the pottery was not very efficient and short before bankrupt. So the the bank manager decided to transport tourists with his train. These idea worked quite good so the owner extended the railway step by step and today its a established business with many workers. Most of the incoming money goes to the local nature conservation pest control and things like that. On the second day I explored the whole north of the peninsula. I drove to Port Jackson and I walked an part of the Coromandel Walkway. The roads are unsealed and goes close along the coastline with beautiful views including thrilling moments because there is no crash barriers only the steep cliffs and you on the third day I went from Coromandel Town to the Eastcoast I visited Opito and Whitianga and I carried on to Hahei to explore awesome beaches plus the incredible Cathedral Cove. Tomorrow I will go to the Hot Water Beach to dig my own Hot Pool After my SPA experience on the beach (which was awesome) I went along the westcoast heading south I saw lots of beautiful beaches often totally lonely an ex vulcan, I did some great hikes. Now tomorrow I will travel back to Auckland… sweet as

Die letzten Tage habe ich ja bei John und Karyne verbracht und heute früh bin ich dann mit dem Bus wieder Richtung Norden unterwegs gewesen…. Habe in Auckland Parnell meinen Mietwagen abgeholt und bin dann von dort immer der Küste entlang des Hauraki Golfs bis nach Thames gefahren wo ich pünktlich zum Sonnenuntergang angekommen bin und hier auch übernachten werde …. Morgen geht es dann nach Coromandel Town und dann immer weiter der Küste entlang aber auch Abstecher ins innere der Halbinsel sind geplant bin ja jetzt flexibler mit Wagen das lustige ist in Neuseeland fahren die alle auf der falschen Strassenseite …. total verrückt die Neuseeländer….ach ja und das Lenkrad ist auch nicht dort wo ich es vermutet hatte… hier in Neuseeländer fährt nämlich immer der Beifahrer … wie in England .. scheint so ein Inselding zu sein.

For my friends

I spent the last days with John and Karyne my first Woofing host and today I went to Auckland Parnell by bus to pick up my rental car. After that I drove along the coastline (Hauraki Gulf) to Thames. I arrived Thames on time to an awesome sunset. Tonight I will stay here and tomorrow I will drive to Coromandel Town and further explore the hole Coromandel Peninsula with trip to the inland as well. It’s quit funny that in New Zealand everybody drives on the wrong side of the road…
so crazy (and dangerous as well) …. also I expected the steering wheel on the normal place but …nothing … in New Zealand drives the co-driver all the time … similar to England … It seems that’s an Island-thing….

Habe einen kurzen Abstecher nach Gisborne unternommen und jetzt garnicht genug Zeit alles zu schreiben Library schliesst…sooo da bin ich wieder ..Also Gisborne war meist verregnet … Ja Doreen es regnet… ich hatte einen vollen Tag um die Stadt zu erkunden und ein wenig ueber die Geschichte zu lesen … in Gisborne ist naemlich der James Cook als erster Europaeer an Land gegangen das war 1769 und morgen gehts direkt nach Putaruru zu John and Karyne meinem ersten Wwoofing host … see ya bro’s

i had a short trip to Gisborne …. mostly with showers .. doesn’t matter i spent a whole day to explore the city and learned things about the history of Gisborne … over there the first European James Cook was going to the land in 1769 … tomorrow i will travel to John and Karyne my first wwoofing host in New Zealand … see ya bro’s

Hatte 2 tolle Tage in Napier …. das Wetter war durchwachsen stuermisch und regnerisch mit Sonne….aber es regnet keine Waschmaschinen also kein Problem …. War gestern im National Aquarium …. die hatten sogar ein Kiwi Terrarium und so konnte ich einen echten Kiwi beobachten …. heute gehts weiter nach Gisborne .. wenn die Strasse nicht wieder gesperrt ist … Gruesse nach Europa und Suedamerika … Alex

i had 2 awesome days in Napier ….. the weather was mixed … mostly wet with sunny parts …but important is it doesn’t rains laundry machines .. NO WORRY’s …..yesterday i went to the National Aquarium …. there was a terrarium with kiwi’s … awesome as well … today i will travel to Gisborne …. hopefully the road is open … closed the last 3 days …

Nach ein paar tollen Tagen in Wellington bin ich nun in Takapau. Die Besitzer Peter und Dianne und wir wohnen in einem historischen Gutshaus aus der Gründerzeit Neuseelands. Im Moment wird renoviertund restauriert und Peter baut neue sanitäre Anlagen 2 Bäder werden mit Trockenbau saniert. Heute haben wir Feuerholz gemacht gesägt und gespalten. Das Wetter ist genial und mit 15 Grad für Winter nicht schlecht… nur heute war es mal etwas bewölkt … mit wir meine ich Gabriel und Lana aus Brasilien … Sie sind Woofer hier wie ich …..

Das waren 6 tolle Wochen Südinsel, mit super Wanderungen atemberaubender Landschaft und unvergesslichen Erlebnissen.
Heute Morgen bin ich von Kaikoura mit dem Intercity Bus nach Picton gefahren … Wetter war wiedermal super super … der neuseeländische Petrus scheint es gut zu meinen mit mir, ausserdem ist die Strecke am Meer entlang wirklich ein Knüller ….ab Blenheim konnte man sogar mal die Nordinsel in Augenschein nehmen …. in Picton habe ich dann wieder die Interislander Fähre nach Wellington genommen. Zu beginn meiner Überfahrt schien noch die Sonne als wir jedoch den Queen Charlotte Sound verließen konnte man nicht nur die Nordinsel sehen sondern rechts davon auch eine schwarze Wand die uns entgegen kam, ab dem Halfwaypoint konnte man sich nicht mehr halten auf dem Sonnendeck so gestürmt hat es @Doreen ..trotz Wellengang war ich die ganze Zeit auf dem Oberdeck war diesmal irgendwie nicht so wild …. Morgen will ich ins National Museum “Te Papa” und am Dienstag fahre ich dann nach Takapau an der Ostküste um wieder eine Woche zu wwoofen. Grüsse euch alle in Europa und Amerika.

Good bye South Island
That’s it 6 awesome weeks South Island are gone 6 weeks with incredible hikes, breathless landscape, unforgettable experiences… today in the morning I traveled from Kaikoura to Picton … weather was fine, again I’m lucky and probably the weather-god likes me … the route goes along the coastline … beautiful beautiful… next to Blenheim it was possible to see the North Island. From Picton I took the Interislander ferry to Wellington again. On the beginning of the sailing the weather was fine and sunny but as we passed the last part of the Queen Charlotte Sound to Cook Strait I saw the North Island but also a storm front on the right side. On the Halfwaypoint the storm front passed the ship … impossible to stay on the sundeck … heavy wind keeps me away. Tomorrow I will visit the national museum “Te Papa” and Tuesday I will carry on to Takapau for 1 week wwooing. see ya Alex
